I once left my work on the table and walked away from it for four years. Crazy, right? In my early twenties, I pursued art independently, mostly isolating myself in my own bubble. I didn’t know many other artists and didn’t socialize much. This meant I was carving my own path—maybe more of a meandering one rather than a straight shot. As someone with no sense of direction, that definitely sounds like something I’d do.

At that time, I didn’t love what I was creating and wasn’t finding enough success to live comfortably as an artist. Eventually, I reached a dead end. What’s next? For me, I stopped making art. This was the first step toward starting over, even if I didn’t recognize it at the time.
