Julia Robinson grew up in the forest of Ruidoso, New Mexico, where nature first gave her a sense of belonging. She was fortunate to have been given rein in the mountains before the digital age took off. Every day was imaginative and spent outdoors. Family trips to Santa Fe’s galleries sparked her earliest artistic ambitions. The artists of Canyon Road provided her with a blueprint of what life could be at its greatest.

Later, she discovered a strong art community in ENMU that inspired her to relocate to Colorado and pursue her studies at RMCAD. She then went on to run her e-commerce art business, RobinSunArt, focusing on watercolor portraits and illustration, between 2016 and 2020.

A necessary pause from art led to a sharp turn in 2024, when she found her way to plein air. Where working directly in the landscape taught her to trust her instincts and respond to moments that glimmer with significance. This practice felt like the culmination of her life experiences, bringing together everything she loved. It is her first season of plein air events, and she has already been recognized with Best of Show at Georgetown Plein Air and First Place Emerging Artist at Peak Art Adventure. Working primarily in pastel and watercolor, she seeks to hold onto encounters with nature while leaving space for the viewer’s own response.
