4th Annual Peak Art Adventure

  • woodland park Woodland Park, Colorado, 80863 United States (map)

Last year was my second plein air show and competition. I arrived at the last minute and only had time to complete one painting, but I was fortunate enough to win first place in the emerging artists category.

This year, I really stepped up my participation. While in town, I completed seven paintings and had to narrow it down to three for the show. This year, my cloud painting won first place in the advanced artists category, and I also received a sponsor’s choice award for my Mule Creek painting.

I’m discovering that returning to the event for a second year is much more comfortable. I made friends last year, and this time we got to hang out and paint together. They provided a support system I didn’t have before. Instead of problem-solving on my own, I was able to ask for help, which is honestly such a beautiful thing. I was no longer trying to create in an unknown environment; I felt much more relaxed, and finding good painting spots was easier. There are painting opportunities all over Woodland Park! I look forward to next year.
