My work is inspired by the places I’ve spent time in. I view my paintings as representations of memory, grounded in real experiences but influenced by my personal way experiencing and retelling story.

Colorado and the American West are the landscapes I return to most as subjects. I grew up in a rural mountain village in New Mexico, where the landscape was part of daily life. I’ve never grown tired of nature’s beauty, but I’ve also seen its power as wildfires reshaped my hometown and the places I loved. That awareness of beauty, change, and impermanence has deepened my appreciation for landscape and strengthened my desire to see as many places as I can.

Painting outdoors, en plein air, has become an important part of my practice. I like to walk until I come upon something undeniable. I’m especially drawn to moments when light changes the character of a place, and to the way one moment in a landscape can activate another. Those relationships feel richer in person, and paying attention to them has become an important part of how I paint.

As an artist, my passion is rooted in my love for nature and the creative process. I often lose myself in both, only to emerge with a sense of renewal and purpose.
