Rocky Mountain National Park is always fun to paint and I’ve never been to this side of it. It feels like a bit of a secret so I will be careful not to overshare.
I arrived here for fall color. Being High elevation and higher north, It is one of the earliest spots to see color change in our state. I like to extend my fall color window by following it north to south.
I happened to ask the right park employee where she thought I should go to paint, and she recommended this as a lesser known trail with good color.
It was a little exposed and hot for a mile or so, but got very nice after a while. I only saw about 10 other people on the trail. It led to a waterfall at the end that I got to sit at and enjoy by myself. This is a far cry from painting in other parts of the park. I painted dream lake on this same weekend and it was like being interviewed the entire time. I’m glad I got both experiences
